MADDY GWARTNEY of Team Reinhardt rounds first, after singling to center in the top of the first inning. Her single was part of Reinhardt’s 13 run first inning, which nearly lead to them batting around for a third time and saw them take a controlling lead over The Crossing. Gwartney played right center on defense and was slotted second on the lineup card.

JALIE DEAN takes a big hack during her first at bat in Team Reinhardt’s battle versus The Crossing on June 28. DEAN, batting eight, would go onto single later in the at bat and eventually be driven plating Team Reinhardt’s seventh run of the massive first inning. Team Reinhardt versus The Crossing was the first of two games, before the regular season ends on July 6.

MIKE WOODWARD (l) tosses to first, while shortstop Mike Terpstra (r) looks on. The throw to first was bobbled and ultimately dropped, allowing the baserunner to get to first. This was one of multiple errors committed by The Crossing in their nightmarish top of the first. Woodward would later homer in the bottom of the second as he attempted to pull The Crossing back into the game.

BRYCE BUTLER (l) tosses the ball to the plate, as Deme Batchelor (r) readies herself at second. His pitching allowed Team Reinhardt to escape the top of the first inning, only giving up minimal damage. Butler would later get a weak ground ball hit back to him to end the inning and nearly overthrew first base. He would exclaim while laughing, “Sorry, that’s the first time I’ve thrown overhand in two weeks.”

MIKE TERPSTRA (l) stretches to receive the ball from pitcher Mike Woodward (r) as Maggie Borrowman (middle) tries to beat out the throw. Though the play was close, Borrowman was ruled out by half a step. This would end the top of the second inning that saw The Crossing bounce back as Team Reinhardt went down 1-2-3.

DEVIN CAMPBELL (l) attempts to run down a fly ball hit to deep left field, with Nate Gwartney (r) running to back him up from his position in left center. Campbell would be unable to come up with the ball, however he quickly picked it up and launched it back to the infield, limiting the damage. This was one of the few defensive miscues seen from Team Reinhardt in the June 28 affair.
